Could the daily use of melatonin help to mitigate some of the harm done by having an inconsistent sleep schedule?

Melatonin is a natural hormone made by our body’s pineal gland (present in brain) is responsible for onset of sleep. It’s secretion generally get reduced as we grow up.

Melatonin are sometimes used to treat sleep deprivation and some of the uses of it are as follows:

  • Treating seasonal affective disorder
  • Helping to control sleep patternsfor people who work in night shifts
  • Reducing sleep disorder problems

Reducing chronic cluster headaches

It is safe to use melatonin in low doses for both short and long term uses.

Some of the side effects of melatonin are:-

  • Sleepiness
  • Lower body temperature
  • Vivid dreams
  • Morning weakness
  • small changes in blood pressure
